How to Build a Pool

Back to Products and Services

PLANNING, ENGINEERING & PERMITS
Your personal consultant will work with you to develop an outdoor environment design, provide engineering blueprints of structural specifications and obtain all required building permits.

LAYOUT
Before excavation, the site will be prepared and the pool perimeter staked. This gives you the opportunity to visualize your plan and to make changes if you wish.

EXCAVATION
Heavy equipment will dig the hole for your pool and spa and remove all dirt.

STEEL
Steel reinforcing rods will be used to define the bottom, sides and special features of your pool and spa. This feature provides strength and durability to the pool and spa shell.

PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL
Licensed plumbers and electricians will install all non-corrosive plumbing, (up to ten feet of skimmer), and electrical, (up to 100 feet from power box), equipment throughout the entire project. The first building department inspection will occur at this point to ensure that work is completed pursuant to current code. At your convenience, we will schedule these inspections. Gas line and extended electrical work can be added as an option.

GUNITE
Under high pressure, a mixture of concrete, sand and water is blown into the reinforcing steel creating the highest quality pool shell. This material is then hand shaped to your custom design.

CURING
At this point, you will be asked to water the pool shell several times a day over the next two weeks. This process is called curing and will add to the strength and durability of your pool and spa shell.

SURE SAFETY COPING STONE
Coping is the finishing rim of your pool and spa with a sure safety grip coping stone to help prevent slipping accidents. Decorative options may include your choice of bull-nose brick which comes in many colors, cantilevered decking, marble, stone, slate and other materials.

DECKING
If you have opted for custom decking, this phase will call for grading, brickwork, masonry and deck drains. Another inspection will occur before the final pour.

TILE
A six-inch band of custom tile will be added to the inside waterline of your pool and spa. This will enhance the beauty of your pool and spa. Options include tiling of raised bond beams, trim steps, love seats and spa benches

POOL FINISH
Our craftsmen will apply two coats of plaster to waterproof and enhance the beauty of your pool.

FINAL INSPECTION BY THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT
This last inspection will assure that your pool has been built to code.

START UP
Immediately after plastering, the pool is now filled from your garden hose and is then ready to use. Your pool consultant will then assist you with instruction on the use and operation of your new pool and spa. You may opt to use our full pool service, which includes weekly cleaning, chemicals and warranty repairs.
